Each of us can do something, however big or small, to contribute to positive change in the lives of those around us. It is a rewarding and enriching experience and can often create links with amazing people one otherwise never would have known. There are many wonderful local organizations dedicated to working toward a better community; a couple members of the DMG team are connected to one such organization called The May Court Club of Windsor.

May Court Windsor has been around since 1934 and is one of eight May Court Clubs located in Ontario, the first branch originally being founded in Ottawa in 1898. All funds raised by May Court Windsor are distributed locally in Windsor-Essex County to essential programs such as:

Windsor Homes Coalition Camp
Easter Seals Camp
Canadian Diabetes Camp
Kiwanis Music Festival
Pediatric R.E.A.D.
Learning Disabilities Association
Executive Women International Detroit-Windsor Chapter Reading Rally
Teachers Have Heart (supporting Jumpstart nutrition & autism services)
Windsor Police Services Camp Brombal
Kiwanis Sunshine Point Camp

The Annual Stratford Bus Trip (held this year on August 16) is just one of the ways that May Court raises funds. The May Court Shop is staffed completely by volunteers, and stocked through donations as well as items brought in on consignment. Find clothes, shoes, books, nic-nacs and other miscellaneous items at attractive prices, and know that your dollars are going to help the community.

The shop is closed for the summer and will re-open after Labour Day. Everyone is encouraged to bring in items for resale, starting Sept. 4 at 9:30am: clean out your closet, get rid of some clutter, either donate or put your items on consignment to earn back a little. Someone out there is looking to find what you are looking to get rid of.

Upcoming Fundraiser:
Card Party Luncheon & Fashion Show, October 13, 2012

Giving Back:
All charitable causes that benefit children 18 or under located in Windsor-Essex County are welcome to send a fund request letter to May Court, addressed as follows:
The May Court Club of Windsor
President
1122 Wyandotte St E
Windsor, ON N9A 3K2

Would you like to share? What’s your community connection?
