With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I thought it’d be fun to show some love to some Windsor-based businesses that are worth a follow on Instagram.
Instagram is a popular photo sharing app which allows its users to edit photos using pre-set filters and add searchable hashtags to help fellow photographers and friends find and share those photos.
When Instagram first launched it was a fringe social network used mostly by people in their teens and early 20’s as well as a few larger companies like Starbucks and Coca-Cola. That all changed on April 9, 2012 when Facebook purchased Instagram for $1 billion.
Instagram now has over 300 million monthly active users and is continuing to grow. Amongst businesses, Instagram is the fourth most popular platform after Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and in some industries (Professional Services, Fashion etc.) it can be argued that it’s the second most popular.
So which 6 local-area businesses are taking advantage of Instagram’s huge potential reach? Let’s take a look….
Freeds – @freedsisfashion
Talk about a business MADE for Instagram. Freeds of Windsor fits perfectly into the fashion-centric side of Instagram. They’re always sharing photos of the latest styles and trends as well as photos of their employees and customers throughout the store.
Laser It! – @laseritspa
Another example of a type of business that is well suited for Instagram. Laser It! Salon and Medical Spa not only shares photos of their customers hairstyles but also healthy recipes and inspiration quotes to help get you through your busy work day.
Walkerville Brewery – @walkervillebrewery
Adding one of DMG’s clients has basically become a standard in my blog posts and this one is no different. Our client (who we designed the Growler label for below) keeps their Instagram updated regularly with photos of their events, latest delicious brews and the people behind the making of those brews.
Caesars Windsor – @caesarswindsor
Not your traditional “small business” that I usually talk about in these types of posts but Caesars Windsor does such a great job promoting their events, giveaways and contests on Instagram that I had to give them a spot on the list.
Eryn Shea Photography – @erynsheaphoto
I had the pleasure of meeting Eryn when she did the photos for my cousin’s wedding back in 2012. Her elegant, stylish and unique photos are just the type of content users (especially brides) are looking for on Instagram.
Windsor Eats – @windsoreats
Adriano and the crew at Windsor Eats do a great job curating reviews, photos and more of local area restaurants. They keep their fan-based engaged with scintillating photos of fresh out of the oven meals, snacks and desserts.
