Kay Douglas receives award of distinction, Nov 2004

Windsor, ON - Advertising agency partner Kay Douglas has been honoured with an Alumni of Distinction Award from St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology.

At an October 14 celebration dinner hosted on the Windsor campus by the St. Clair College Alumni Association, tribute was paid to Douglas and four other honourees who have built impressive careers since earning their college diplomas.

"My St. Clair College education has served me well," says Douglas. After graduating in 1992, she co-founded Douglas Brockenshire & Associates. In 2001, Douglas partnered with Tom Harris to create HarrisDouglas Strategic Marketing. "Opening the door at St. Clair to continue my education in fact opened the world for me: the world of community, friendship, possibility, creativity, passion and the continual quest for knowledge," says Douglas.

Learning about the advertising industry in a border city helped shape Douglas' view of the marketplace. "By not seeing boundaries, we have been able to approach the exciting international market that belongs exclusively to Canada South," she says. "HarrisDouglas will continue to improve our quality of service and to build on the strength of our networks: community participation, Trans-Canada Advertising Agency Network, Executive Women International, Women's Economic Club, St. Clair College, The University of Windsor, McCarthy Blanchard, The Windsor Club and The Detroit Athletic Club."

Douglas says, "I am very proud of this award and proud to be an alumna of St. Clair. I am very aware of the difference my education has made in my life and I am grateful for the gifts it provides in ensuring that our community is equipped with the passion and talent necessary to mold the future."
